What is
Music Therapy?

Where words fail, music speaks.

"A shared musical experience
underpinned by clinical aims"

Music therapy involves utilising music and its elements, such as sound, rhythm, and harmony, to achieve specific goals, including developmental goals, psychodynamic goals, and improved quality of life. The music therapist engages in discussions with individuals, or carers, to understand their needs and preferences, before tailoring each session accordingly. Continuous evaluation of progress occurs, often in collaboration with other healthcare providers for coordinated care. Ultimately, it is a shared musical experience underpinned by clinical aims with a HCPC Registered Music Therapist.

Who can Benefit?

Because musical participation and response are not solely reliant on verbal communication, Music Therapy proves to be an especially effective clinical intervention for individuals facing verbal communication challenges due to disability, illness, or injury, potentially leading to life-changing outcomes.
